Semana 39 Rancho Ward: Lots of things!

It's been a super busy week so let's get right into it today.

Monday: We got this really cool Come unto Christ referral, we called Wanda and Natalie and they are so excited that we teach about Jesus Christ we have another lesson with them on Saturday.

Tuesday: Today we had district council today and a lot of calling people and setting up lessons and things. We went to mutual and did improv night which was super cool! We got a lot accomplished but nothing to write home about!

Wednesday: Today was ALOT which was super fun. We did trainings and we got really good at doing the same training by the 5th time. We got to see all our friends and after we tried to cram all the things in.

Thursday: Today I had exchanges with Sister Wadsworth and we had a blast! She is so cute and I got to go back to Spanish. We got to teach some fun people and learn a lot about how to do the little things to be a super effective missionary.

Friday: Today we had an STL luncheon and man, I needed that awesome pep talk. Sister Reese spoiled us rotten and it was so much fun. We got to talk about how we can better the mission and it was so good to see my friends.

Saturday: Today was exchanges with Sister Wilson! We came out together so it was super fun to see her. We accidentally ended up eating three dinners and it was crazy town. Lots of tender mercies today and it was super awesome.

Sunday: Today we had 5 people at church! That is literally such a huge miracle. All the people that came are really progressing so hopefully we will see some baptisms by the end of the transfer!!

I love you all and I have pictures but they aren't uploading, so I will send them next week! I love you and have a fabulous week!!

Semana 38 Rancho Ward: A whole new world

Wow! So many things to do. I have had lots of new experiences this week, involving STL life, but also, just regular Rancho life. Lots of meetings and fun new experiences.

Monday: Today we did a lot of knocking doors and some street contacting. Sadly no new people to teach, but it is finally cooling down here in Vegas, we are at a whole 90 degrees which is about 20 degrees cooler than it has been so I can't wait. We worked on a new ad as well so hopefully that goes well. A pretty chill day which was nice after pday.

Tuesday: Today we had District Council and a new meeting called zuddle? Basically it is just a little pre district council chat on how the zone can improve and it was really good! Then we headed to the tire shop (Llantera) and got 2 nails taken out of our tires! I literally have the worst luck with cars which scares me for real life when I actually have to pay for these things. WE ended up getting to plan our MLC training and get some contacts in while we were there. Later we went to the temple president's house for dinner and man did we eat good! Plus, bonus, we had Texas sheet cake for dessert which was fabulous. WE ended the night with some mutual and water balloon volleyball.

Wednesday: Today was MLC! We got to go all the way up to Mt. Charleston to do this leadership council in the mountains. Never did I think I would need a jacket at 70 degrees but here we are. We got to talk about a lot of really good things and I really think that it is going to be good for the mission. We gave a training session and I was a little nervous about it, but it went great! We were there literally all day, So, we just came home, did some contacting and then ended the night with good old personal study.

Thursday: Today we had yet another meeting called MLC review for all the district leaders in the zone. Then we met with our friend Velma and she is super solid, hopefully she comes to church this Sunday. Then we had dinner with the Sprague family and went out knocking doors after that. Then we got to switch and I went home with Sister Willes. We had a good night chatting and I was a lot less nervous after I met her.

Friday: First exchange as an STL!! So fun! I went with Hermana Willes and got to go back to Summerlin and enjoy the crazy life there. We visited the cutest 92 year old lady named Janet and we went to Canes for lunch. We got to learn how to knock doors and Facebook finding. I loved getting to know her and helping her feel like she really can do this and really is a good missionary was super awesome. We took some super fun pictures that I will post below.

Saturday: Well, Sister Hunter woke up feeling pretty crappy, but we had a service project to go to and we were hoping that she could just work it off. We helped the Vegas trash department collect large items for 6 hours.... It was hard! We were trying to move a fridge and we accidentally dropped it... however, this fridge defied the laws of physics and rolled away from this lady's car!! Milagros. Anyway, after that adventure we went home and poor Sis. Hunter fell asleep, we ended up taking it pretty easy the rest of the day. Part of the day we messaged people who liked our Facebook page and my account got flagged because I messaged too many people, whoops.

Sunday: Sadly Sister Hunter still woke up pretty sick so we had to stay home from church which was a sad day, because 3 of our friends showed up for church!!! We think the AP's took good care of them though so fingers crossed. We ended up contacting over 50 people by phone which was pretty crazy. I loved that even though we had to stay in all day we were still able to do missionary work. We had a lot of Facebook work done as well and I am slowly getting better at Ads and figuring all of that out. Overall a pretty boring day, but we did lots!

P.S. Grandma Anna makes the best cookies, (the member we live with that is 84) Sadly, I couldn't get a picture because we don't want to get her sick, but I will be sure to send some next week.

Semana 37 Rancho Ward: It's simply Rancho

Well everyone! This week has been one crazy one. Every time something crazy happens everyone just says only in Rancho. There is definitely a different demographic here than my last ward, but it has been a really fun learning experience.  Sister Hunter is great, and I'm excited to get to know her better. STL life is a lot busier which is super fun.

Tuesday: Today we really just met the new zone and unpacked. It was stressful but exciting. Afterwards we went to mutual and they taught a self defense class. Which was soooooo fun. Sister Hunter and I got a little too into it and ended up crashing into and rolling through the gym doors. That was my first impression to the youth so basically, I've gained their trust in one fell swoop. The leaders loved that we really got into it. That took up our short rest of our night so we went home and slept really good.

Wednesday: We started off our morning at the Just One project which was unloading pallets of food and packing them into bags for four hours. I definitely gained some arm muscle later. We also did way more studying and contacting. We did some door knocking which was super fun and I learned how to make a gospel ad. Other than that it was a lot of learning about the area and the people we are teaching.

Thursday: Today we had some Facebook meetings to get our page all set up for the transfer. After our meeting we had an amazing lesson with Sarah (a member) and her friend Frank (not a member) and it rocked. We talked a lot about the enabling power of the Atonement which is always my favorite thing. We ended our night as shift leads at Centro Hispano where we tried diffusing the fires of the first week of the transfer chaos. We made it through and knocked a few doors to no avail before we crashed yet again.

Friday: Today we had correlation breakfast with our new ward and it was so fun. We have 3 sets of missionaries and we ward share with the AP's which is super fun. Our leadership is super missionary minded and I'm way excited for that. Sadly all our lessons for today canceled, but it ended up being a blessing because we had so many things pop up that we had to do. We planned exchanges, did a new Facebook ad, set up lessons and really finished weekly planning that we didn't have time to do last night. So a little slower but nice to breathe.

Saturday: Today we had the craziest lesson of my entire mission. Rhoda was almost in a diabetic coma as we were driving (with a member) to drop her off at her house. We were stressed and didn't get to share too much a a message, but I learned a lot so, what can you say? It's simply Rancho. After that crazy lesson we had another one! We felt like we should knock this non members door and we pull up to a literal drug bust, but, the Lord told us we needed to go, so we prayed and went to an inactive members house instead. She has 3 unbaptized kids that we are now teaching. Crazy the way the Lord slowly prompts you to eventually get your will aligned with his!

Sunday: We had church which was super fun and we had the Bley family show up after our crazy lesson Saturday! We were super excited and can't wait to keep meeting with them. After church we went and had a lesson with Ellie at the swap meet, which is like an indoor flea market. She is super sweet and we are hoping she comes to church next week.

All in all it's been a crazy week! Learning lots and growing lots, what more can I ask for? Also, sorry again on the pictures. I've had so many good weeks with pictures it was about time I forgot ;)

Semana 36 Rancho Ward: New Area! New Comp! New Assignments!

Hello everyone! It's about to be a long email, but I promise it will be 150,000% worth the read. First off my transfer details! I am going to the Rancho ward and I am so excited! I will be with Sister Hunter who has been my STL for the past 3 transfers and I will be an STL with her!! We are also social media stake leads over the Las Vegas Stake Facebook page. Ahhh!!! It's a lot of new things on my plate, but I am so ready to be busy. There is never a dull moment with Sister Hunter and I am so ready to be a part of that. Other amazing news and lots of spiritual experiences are in store, so stay tuned at least until Saturday! (Which was one of the best days of my whole mission).

Monday: Pday was so fun! We had our dinner cancel last minute, but we got to go to the Larsen's and man oh man, that was so fun! We did dessert and an awesome message. I love that family and I am so excited to see them grow more and more.

Tuesday: Today we had a blast at our district council meetings and then went to the store on special assignment with our roommates to buy things for the biggest cookie baking party you've ever seen. We had to make cookies for seminary come and see day! More about that tomorrow. But, we made the cutest thumbprint cookies with our 6 different kinds of random jam and they looked amazing! After the great Vegas baking show we headed to dinner at the Dudley's home and then rushed to mutual! While at the Dudley home Sister Lusk learned she loves milk in her ice-cream and will never go back. Shout out to all my crazy family members that do that...... Mutual was a blast! We played minute to win it games with the girls and we could not have had more fun. All in all the most fantastic day.

Wednesday: Today we didn't have a lot in the morning so we cracked out all our studies first. Then, we headed to a slightly awkward meeting with some inactive members and played Gospel of Jesus Christ Uno. We ended the night with an amazing and super productive Chickfila dinner with our Relief Society President. So basically God knows me so well that this whole week he has been sending little tender mercies my way, and one of them was getting taken to Chickfila for dinner. I know God knows you each individually and that he wants to bless your life as much as you will let him. I promise as you open your eyes to his grace, you will see miracles in your life.

Thursday: Ok so this day had so much sitting, but, we had so many fun productive things to do. First we had Spanish lessons with Sister Adam's and that is always a blast. She had us read to her and yikes..... we passed off from kindergarten to 4th grade though, so progress!! After that we headed out to our apartment and went on a virtual tour of Liberty jail! Another tender mercy for me, because that's right where I live! The spirit was so strong and I loved seeing the virtual version of the tour. Finally we did weekly planning together in Spanish! Who would have thought we could do rather?! Not me, but we did it, twice in a row now. Another tender mercy was seeing our board completely full of things to do and knowing if I stayed, I would be busy! We ended the night with a late dinner at the Hunt's house and headed back to our apartment and crashed.

Friday: Today was jam packed with lesson goodness. We started off our day with studies and HiFit at the stake center. Then we went and helped Linda Ence unpack, move some furniture, and organize her pantry. She was so grateful and we have loved getting to know her. After that we headed out to the Hisamoto's house for ice cream and a chat. They were so cute and we had an amazing gospel discussion with them. Next, we rushed to the Madsen's house for dinner and ate with them and the Adam's family. It was so fun and we really got to know them both better. We ended the night with some Spanish studies and crashed yet again!

Saturday: Ok basically one of the best days of my whole mission. Friday night at like 9:30 we got a text saying Josiah was going to do baptisms at the temple and he wanted Sister McBride and I to go! So, we arranged for a ride, and got to go do baptisms at the temple with Josiah! I am so over the moon proud of him. Alma had it right when he said there is truly no greater joy than this. Seeing Josiah come closer to Jesus Christ has been an amazing journey. He was the first lesson I ever taught in my mission, and now look at where he is and who he is becoming. Plus bonus, Sister McBride and I got to be companions for the day! Woo! I got to catch up with her and I really needed that tender mercy! God really is looking out for all of his children.

Sunday: OH my goodness Sunday was crazy! Just another tender mercy for you guys, Nearer my God to thee was the closing song in sacrament today! Also, when we walked into church we noticed a lady sitting with the Godfrey family, so, we walked up and turns out she was just looking for a church and walked on in! She is super sweet and I know Sister Lusk will be a great teaching her! We did a lot of studies and packing and then ended the night with a awesome dinner at the Godfrey's house. Everyone was so kind and leaving church today was so sad!!

Monday: Today was just a ton of people who we needed to say goodbye to! We packed, prepped Sister Lusk to train, and had a best last day together :)

I just want you all to know I love you. Life gets hard sometimes, but I know, that God will always pull through. He did for me this week. I have seen so many blessings and I can not wait to see what this next transfer holds!

All my love,

Sister Sellers
